The Slovak National Folklore Ballet Lúčnica, famous from its many successful international
tours, known as “The Rolling Stones of Folklore”, is proudly presenting its
premiere “Beautiful and Young - Australia Tour 2010”.
Lúčnica, inspired by national
traditions, will ‘whip’ the audience into a frenzy. It’s a creation of mastery
and fantasy combined with a unique dance and music show based on Slovak
folklore which has triumphed around the world for more than 60 years.
Skilful young dancers accompanied by the professional
orchestra, dressed in many different colorful handmade
costumes with marvelous
embroidery, present dynamic and poetic dances, virtuoso folk tunes and songs
from different regions of Slovakia.
“I have never seen such beauty and
richness of traditional national culture, like the one in Slovakia, in any of
the numerous countries I have visited throughout my career,” said Dominik
Hrbatý, the famous Slovak tennis player, two times Perth Hopman Cup winner and two times
Australian Open singles quarter-finalist.
The ballet includes; the highest level of professional artistic performance, world unique instruments “Cimbal”
and “Fujara” under the UN Heritage; specially selected young girls, some of
whom contested Miss Slovakia, the talent of the soccer nation (conqueror of
Italy at FIFA World Cup), tennis nation (Fed Cup winner, Davis Cup finalist)
and ice-hockey nation (World Champion).
There is a hidden power that
catches your eye and resonates with senses. The only Folklore Ballet ever
allowed to perform at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden London which sold out on three consecutive nights!
